With another couple of days, you can visit another spiritual center of Tibet, Shigatse city. The highlight of Shigatse prefecture are Tashilumpo monastery and the Palkhor monastery with Kumbu pagoda. Tashilumpo monastery was built in 1447 AD, the oldest and largest Gelugpa monastery in Tibet, also the seat of Banchen LamaShalu monastery.
